Colonoscopy

Elms Endoscopy Center is conveniently located within our facility in the north area with no need to drive downtown or to West Ashley when in need of an upper endoscopy (EGD) and/or colonoscopy (screening colonoscopy).

Diagnose. Treat. Prevent.

A colonoscopy is the colon cancer screening method preferred by the American College of Gastroenterology. It is the only test that allows both diagonsis and treatment at the same time. Colonoscopies not only detect cancer, it can prevent it with the removal of precancerous growths called polyps. Many people put off getting a colonoscopy because of the embarrassment, fear, modesty and expense. Talk to your gastroenterologist, and even friends and neighbors — they’ll help you understand how simple it really is.

A colonoscopy is a simple procedure that allows your physician to look inside the colon for polyps, cancers, inflammation, causes for abdominal pain and bleeding. Colonoscopies performed at our Elms Endoscopy Center will be done with the assistance of an anesthesiologist to ensure you are comfortable and asleep during the procedure.
